Lord, Why Me?

Lord, Why Me?

Have you found yourself wondering why God chose you to be in the tough situation you may be in? Well, you're not alone. We all have moments of "Lord, Why Me? Why am I the one going through this particular challenge or trouble?" We often think, "I don't even know anyone who has had to go through this. Why is this my path?" I've found myself asking these questions often, but then I have to remember, "If not me, then who?" Someone will go through it, and I'd prefer it not to be me, but it is me, so now what?

I've often found this scripture to be comforting, "The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8, NIV. God promises never to leave nor forsake us, so that means that whatever we have to go through, He will be there to give us strength and comfort.

I don't know why we have to go through bad things, but we do. Jesus says in John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (NIV) So, we know that because we live in this world, we will have trouble, but because our Savior, Jesus, overcame this world, we can have peace in knowing that we can overcome our obstacles as well.

Walk and talk with God today and let Him give you peace even in your doubt, dismay, or devastation. Understand that we don't always have to have the answers to life's tough questions, but we can have the Prince of Peace.
