Fear Not!

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1 KJV)
Fear will come to all of us at some point, but it’s what we do with those fearful thoughts when they come that makes the difference. I’ve had to fight off a very real fear of something for the last few months, and it’s been a true battle, but I believe I’m winning that battle and this is how I believe we can all fight the fear battle and win.
When fear comes into our minds, let's say the following, “…I will fear no evil for thou are with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4) I like to say it over and over again just to make sure that the fear clearly understands where I’m coming from.
When we hear that nagging voice saying, “It’s not going to work out this time either,” remember Hebrews 13:5 and say to yourself, "God promises never to leave us nor forsake us.” When I say those words, I feel like I've wrapped myself in the blanket of God’s Love and Care by knowing that I’m never left alone because He’s always there.
When things start to look bad, say, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1, KJV) Just like the woman with the issue of blood, let's have enough faith to the point where God sees our situation and changes it for our good simply because of our faith. It’s in those hopeless-looking times that we have the opportunity to exercise our faith the most.

We also have to remind ourselves that God is our Father and He really does want good things for us. So, even if things didn’t go our way in the past, we can’t let that taint our future. The past is the past. We can use the past to learn from it, but we can’t let it cripple us in fear about our future. Keeping good thoughts in our head that agree with God is definitely a battle, but God has equipped us with the armor we need to fight it…His Word.
We have to keep His Word at the forefront of our minds to fight those thoughts of defeat and dismay. We also have to remember who God is and how much He loves us and wants good things for us. That will help us to kick our fears out and let our faith in.
