The Happiness of Hope

While I was listening to an inspirational message by Joyce Meyer, I was reminded that when you are full of hope, you’re happy and more relaxed. Many times when we are going through the tough stuff, we automatically lose hope, and allow sadness or depression to take over.

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV) Knowing that should make us happy!

Doubt and negativity steal or block hope, so instead of having our hope blocked, we have to block out negativity. Our mindset should be that something good is going to happen instead of turning to the negative side and the “what ifs” and letting them dictate how we operate and feel.

God knows that having hope is so important because He knows that when we don’t have hope, we can’t have faith in what He is doing for us.

Sometimes when we’ve been through a lot, we feel entitled to have an easier ride once we get over the hurdles that we’ve faced. It gets to be confusing sometimes because we think, “God, we’ve already gone through a lot. Not this too!” But, John 16:33 reminds us,” In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (NIV) Since Jesus has overcome the world, He can easily help us to overcome our problems in His time.

My new daily mantra is, “God is Good and He’s going to be good to me and my family.” I encourage you to find a mantra of your own or use this one and remind yourself daily of the goodness of God. Those little reminders can help us to find hope even in the ugliest situations.

I haven’t posted on this blog in a very long time because after having my beautiful, miracle baby, we’ve had to deal with a few medical issues. One being a daily cough that he’s had for many months now.

The helplessness of not being able to figure out the origin of the cough had started to turn into a hopelessness, but God tapped me on my shoulder to remind me that I’m not hopeless or helpless, and that I can fight for my baby through faith and hope.

I believe that God sends me a reminder to continue to have hope through it all because strangely, after each cough, my baby smiles at me. I may be going through full-out panic mode, but I truly believe that his smile is a reminder from God that everything will be okay.

So, with that, I will conclude by saying that I will vow to continue to have hope in God even when life is confusing and uncertain, and I pray that you will too.

Here's a resource that you may like that will renew your hope!
