I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. (Luke 10:10 NIV)
God tells us that He has given us the power to be victorious over the enemy, so why do we sometimes feel so powerless? Have you ever had a day when you had negative thought after negative thought, and then went on to speak those thoughts? Did your day get better or worse after speaking life to those negative thoughts? I bet things got worse, right? Well, that's how it goes. When we think and speak negatively, negative things will always seem to happen because our perspective and thoughts are not aligned with the power that God has given us.
In order to tap into the power that can trample on snakes and scorpions and overcome the power of the enemy, we must first think powerful and Godly thoughts that turn into powerful words. Our power thoughts and power words teamed up with faith in what God can do will make us unstoppable! But first, we have to tame the thoughts in our mind.
I struggled with this principle many, many times, but when I began to see the power that God endowed me with simply by taming my thoughts and my tongue, I was blown away by what God could do. I challenge you today to change your thoughts and your tongue. Make the thoughts in your head and the words on your tongue line up with what God says about you and watch God blow your mind with His goodness.
Joyce Meyer's Daily Devotion, Power Thoughts, is a great resource to help you on your journey to taming the mind and the tongue.
